THE GRIMM GENERATION @ BEST VIDEO IN HAMDEN 12/5

The Grimm Generation are taking their special blend of apocalyptic pop to Best Video in Hamden, which is an establishment greatly deserving of your time and attention.

The Grimm Generation
From the flaming wreckage of the 'Record Industry' arise The Grimm Generation. The songs document the lives of the authors, in victorious shout-along choruses to stark lyrics which paint an unpretty, but accurate portrait of life in The Land Of Steady Habits. Carmen sings and writes and Jason sings and writes and plays guitar. But what The Grimm Generation really does is confess. Publicly, loudly. With feeling.

new fake babies video "dont hold your breath"

Somehow we missed this but here is an awesome new video for "Don't Hold Your Breath" from the amazing new Fake Babies Eponymous EP released earlier this year. The video, by the incredibly skilled Jimi Patterson, is highly stylized like security footage and features the band singing and shots of ladies riding a mechanical bull. Sounds good to me!!!

11/16 - No!, Heavy Breath, Sannhet, Clean Teeth, Everything @ Tommy's in Middletown

This is the second show at Tommy's Restaurant in Middletown, a happening spot that comes with a stocked bar, scenic patio and fantastic light show. The first show in August was a success and now they're starting to do one a month. Friday has an eclectic roster featuring two CT stalwarts - Middletown punk maestros No! (who live right down the street from Tommy's and released one of 2012's best records - Can You Dig It) and Heavy Breath. This is the start of Heavy Breath's weekend tour. Also on tour from Brooklyn, NY are Sannhet (atmospheric metal noise with AJ from Fight Night on bass) and Clean Teeth who make all sorts of ugly, pulverizing sounds. And to start things off right, there's Everything from Allston, MA who play fast, thrashy hardcore and just plain kick ass.

Mandrake Mechanism - Monetary Artforms

All hip hop producers could learn something from this release.  One look at the cover and you’re not sure what to expect.  One listen through the album and you’re not quite sure what you just heard.  Mandrake Mechanism bring a stellar hip hop album to the table, drawing influences from across the musical spectrum.

Introducing Them Damn Hamiltons

This newly formed band, which features many veterans of the Connecticut music scene, manage to strike gold on their debut five song demo, which was passed along to me by one of their members. They play an intoxicating blend of indie folk, country and with a bit of sea shanty thrown in for good measure. This is dark folk music.

The World Is A Beautiful Place.., Dads, Souvenirs, Dawnmother & MORE 11/10 @ THE HEIRLOM ARTS THEATRE

LOTS of bands at The Heirloom Arts Theatre on Saturday. Go out and support your favorite ones as well as The Heirloom and the CT scene in general at this mega show!

Bob D'Aprile from CTROCK on WPKN Bridgeport and CTIndie.com have teamed up to produce and syndicate an ongoing monthly radio spot promoting as many CT shows and artists as we can. The spot series, called Ab Origine (from the source, in latin) premiered June 28th on WPKN, with a condensed calander-only version sent out to be syndicated on several other CT radio stations.
