It is time once again to begin preparing for the 3rd annual CTINDIE.COM SUMMER MIX!

The Gentle Stunts - Beg The Question

The new album by The Gentle Stunts is out today via their BANDCAMP, and it's worth every second you spend listening to it. Cal and team have doubled down on their production capabilities and pop sensibilities to bring you one of the finest listening experiences you will have all year!

Hubbell Mountain - Stereoscope

Visceral and exciting, Hubbell Mountain’s new album, illustrated by the well-known LA artist Brendon Monroe (good freaking grab, guys, I love his work), grabs us by the chest and digs its roots deep inside us. With hi-fi precision and ingenious production quality, this [virus] collection next fuses with our arteries and starts to pump its serious mind-numbing juices into our bloodstream, and finally, after trying to rip our own hearts out, to no avail I assure you, it drowns us in its own frothy, pneumonic harmony; lulling us to our final sleep in a bath of melancholic and deeply personal dreams.

OK! So after a week of labor, the new CTIndie.com Summer Mix is finally complete. To say the submission level was overwhelming is an understatement. We simply cannot BELIEVE how many submissions we received for this mix. Last year, we received submissions from 35 CT bands to make D60, the 2012 Summer Mix (named for being 2 hours long, or "double" 60 minutes). This year we received a staggering number of tracks from 90 bands. So, after compiling just over 5 hours of music, we present to you q-90: the quadruple CD, 90 track CTIndie.com Summer Mix 2013!

Submission Guidelines:

You may submit as many tracks as you like. We will select our favorite and put them on the tape. We may choose one or two songs depending on a multitude of factors (total running time of tape, how much we really like the songs, etc...). There are NO genre restrictions, and I would like to add that we generally prefer stuff that's harder to categorize.

THE DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS IS JUNE 1ST! So get us your tracks by then.

These sequences will then be constructed for release in the first week of June on our SUMMER MIX TAPE SOUNDCLOUD (yes, the old tapes will be taken down). Also, like last year, we here at CTIndie.com will make (at our own personal expense) CD's and/or Tapes to be passed out at shows all summer for FREE. I know last year we proliferated 100 sets of the double CD and nearly 50 double tape sets. We encourage, nay, IMPLORE all of you featured on the tape or not, to make and distribute as many copies of these mixes as possible. Get the word out about your favorite bands. Tell everyone how impressively abundant CT music really is!
And get yourself psyched up for a long awesome summer of dope ass shows.

The Guru - Go Easy

The Guru return triumphantly with their new album "Go Easy" and it expands on the promise of last years "Native Sun" in a whole bunch of ways!

Speedy Ortiz - Sports EP

Sports EP finds Speedy Ortiz expanding on the intricacies of songwriting that was being hinted at in the Taylor Swift b/w Swim Fan single that came out in march. Their instrument tones and mixing is still at an all time high and this clarity allows all of the lush details each member expertly adds to be noticed.

CTIndie Summer Mix Tape(s): D60!

IT'S FINALLY HERE! The CTIndie Summer Mix Tape is here, and it is so big we had to make it 2 tapes. After whittling it down to one song per band we got submissions from 35 CT bands! A 120 minute runtime makes this Double 60 minute tapes, or D60 for short.

Jayson Munro's "Meteor Tears" EP; A Sonic Mirror

I can't call myself a musical expert, not by any stretch of the imagination. I'm your Average Listener, merely moved by what I hear, unskilled in breaking it down to its bare components in my mind. It's a holistic and mystical experience for me, my disbelief is suspended and all I know is what I like and what I don't. With that disclaimer, I've really enjoyed Jayson Munro's new EP "Meteor Tears."

CT INDIE SUMMER MIX TAPE

Hey all. This is a call out to all CT area musicians. We are compiling a free "Mix Tape" to put online in mp3 format, and to be made into free tapes we will all be passing out in an effort to get people psyched for summer shows. If your band is playing shows and wants to submit a track or two, please send it to us at ctindiemusic@gmail.com. You could also just drop it in the DropBox! We have a tentative deadline of May 20 for a potential June 1st release. If you have any questions, just ask!
