Mind The Journey is Spencer Sabo of Madison CT. He makes super weird synthy psychedelic pop music. On his eponymous EP he explores some pretty thick territory and the results are both confounding and joyous.

Paul Belbusti's need to create art and experiment knows no bounds. Easily the most prolific artist in the CT area, Paul's main musical act Mercy Choir starts out the new year strong with the first of what I am sure will be many releases this year.

Lake Kwan Do - Recordings

The few who know me know that I tend toward music that has no real categorization, and sometimes even less information. On occasion we get submissions of this kind and I instantly take to them. One such submission is by Lake Kwan Do, in the form the their EP "Recordings".

Chris Modeen - Dinosaurio

Chris Modeen makes odd folk music with a real pop edge. His home recorded "Dinosaurio" is mainly acoustic guitar and various takes of his vocals. He has a Kev MF King, or Modest Mouse vibe, but with a darker vocal sense.

Ledges - EP_1

Ledges kick into their EP_1 with "Somebody's Number", a super poppy and fuzzy summer tune. Massive fuzz tone in this with great vocals and killer drums. Reminiscent of High Pop or Ovlov.

"Another Day" is a bass led song with really pretty guitar chiming in intermittently. A more urgent, perhaps emo vibe to this song, without falling too heavily into that or any specific genre. "Death Ray Run" closes out this brief EP with more upbeat pop vibes. Serious grooves in the breakdown of this song. These guys definitely have a knack for composing parts and putting them together. This is a very strong intro to this band, who we hope is currently making some more tunes for our ears!

Melt - Stay for a While

Here's a fun/cool/weird 3 track EP by Torrington/Litchfield's Melt. "Funny You Should Mention" is like a fuzzy old song from the glory days of underground rock. At once sounding both classic and new this song sounds brooding and dark but heartfelt, with uneasy guitars and sweet effected croons. This song also plays in 3 different tempos in a mere 3 and a half minutes.

"Let's Go For A Ride" is a little less dark and a little more sweet. Extremely cool bass guitar work in this song alongside those same lovely effected vocals. This song also slips in and out of different tempos, which is an interesting choice. "Sleep Until It's Dark"  returns to the uneasy but pretty guitar sound of the first track, feeling like a weird lo-fi combo of Elison Jackson and Werewolf Police. "Sleep.." is definitely more on the experimental side than any of the other tracks, and with the big picture we can see this band clearly has a lot they intend to explore in sound.

Big ups to this band and their late june release. Get your ears into it!

Dr. Martino's Big Day EP

Dr. Martino are a band in Willimantic that moved there from Florida earlier this year. They have been playing shows and have released their new EP "Big Day" which is brimming with good time tunes to brighten your parties and fill up your ears!

Loner Chic - Pretty Void EP

Loner Chic have debuted their first release, an EP called Pretty Void. It is chocked full of pop punk and garage rock goodness!

Analog Sunset - Yesterday

Analog Sunset are a band from Hartford that released their debut EP "Yesterday" in April. It's an incredibly poppy guitar driven EP that showed up just in time for Summer.

Spectral Fangs - Memory Girl EP

Pop but never cloying, melancholy but always groovy, Spectral Fangs “Memory Girl EP” (released April 2014) plays right in the sweet spot where the songs will get stuck in your head and you actually enjoy it.

PALEHOUND - Bent Nail EP + Interview!

Palehound is a band getting some serious buzz.
