The Hulls, The Vultures, Street People. This Friday in New London.
New London has arguably the best music scene in all of Connecticut. Even with places like the El n Gee and Bank St. Café closing the Wailing City still thrives. Gene Barousse and the folks over at 33 Golden St. ( also called simply The 33 by the locals) have been working hard bringing some of the best local and out of town bands to the little underground bar in the shadows of the former El n Gee ( Its actually a half block down from the old Gee).

Herff Jones - The Mercury Floor
Herff Jones has recently released their second EP, The Mercury Floor, whose radically eclectic offering makes it even more challenging to place them within the comfortable confines of a genre. I honestly couldn't figure out where to place this band, maybe the strange lo-fi lovechild of The Hush Sound and Andrew Bird? No, probably not. The female singers’ voice is reminiscent of Haley Williams’, but their style is not (at all), especially during the more hard-hitting songs that sport a sort of experimental punk-influence. Regardless, the harmonies of the two singers work so well that I could not care less what genre they happen to place themselves in, which, as mentioned in CTIndie’s review of their last EP, is ‘Alternative Rock?’

White Bronco Rides again! Interview with Andy & Jordan.
Andrew Carey and Jordan Harrelson get around. No, not that way. Get your mind out of the gutter. Andy was in ska heroes Cobra Skamander as a kid, he also fronted one of the best Connecticut punk bands in the last decade known as Hand Grenade Serenade. Jordan is the front man of punks Chasing Trinity, plays drums for garage rockers Street People; he also played bass for indie kids The Cavemen Go. Together they are in the ska punk band The Hempsteadys. They also make up half of New London rockers White Bronco. Get a glimpse inside the minds of two of New London’s most talented musicians.

Bedroom Rehab Corporation Interview
Bedroom Rehab Corporation are a duo from New London who are
tough to classify. They are parts metal, doom, punk, and garage. They are loud
and ferocious. They have recorded and released a tremendous album earlier this
year titled “Red Over Red” and are constantly playing all over the Northeast.
Check out BRC at Café 9 (250 State St) in New Haven on the February 23rd
as Ct.com presents Royal Thunder, Ancient Wisdom, Stone Titan, and BedroomRehab Corporation. But first read a quick interview Meghan and Adam did with us
here.
