Save The El 'N' Gee Club!
Connecticut has one of the most thriving punk scenes in the country. It’s full of support and is known to bring in bands from out of state to play with tremendous local bands. This summer alone, The Virus and Union 13 graced our fine state.

The Devil In The Flesh: Integrity plays Hartford on May 23
Integrity is one of those bands that people either love or hate. There is no middle ground for this band, which is basically a vehicle for lead man, Dwid Hellion, to express the darkness that exists within him.

Any band that Matt Potter is in I have to take a second look at. So when he came up to me at The Oasis Pub one night and was going on about this new band, Wrist Like This, I knew immediately that it was something I needed to listen to.

Early Graves find the strength to carry on
![]() |
| John Strachan | Chris Brock | Dan Sneddon | Tyler Jensen | Matt O'Brien | Makh Daniels (RIP) |
San Francisco loud rock band Early Graves have had their share of tragedy in the past few years. On August 2, 2010, as the band was traveling to Reno from Portland their van crashed, tragically killing their charismatic lead singer Makh Daniels. After some deliberation, the band decided to keep going with friend, and Funeral Pyre vocalist, John Strachan taking over on vocals. It was a long road back, but the band, which includes guitarists Chris Brock and Tyler Jensen, bassist Matt O'Brien, drummer Dan Sneddon was able to persevere. They have a new record entitled "Red Horse" coming out on October 30 on No Sleep Records and will be making a stop at the Cherry Street Station on September 24 with Skeletonwitch and Havok, Pristina and Shallow Ground. We sent Brock and Strachan a bunch of questions and here are there answers on a whole variety of subjects including the van accident, touring, their new label and their new record. It's a very a candid and honest look at a band.

Primitive Weapons debuts their dark, charismatic sounds at Cherry Street
This New York City-based loud rock band plays fast and loose with the rules of hardcore, incorporating elements of metal, doom, noise and post-punk into their dense and dark musical emanations. A few years back, they released an awesome 7" called "Cosmic Horror" on the Shinebox label and this year saw the release of their full length debut, "The Shadow Gallery" on Prosthetic. So with the band finally set to make its Connecticut debut this Thursday along with another band we just wrote about, and Rhode Island doomsters Pilgrim, we sent lead singer David Castillo some questions pertaining to the title of their new record, the band's growth, and their influences, among other things. Here are his answers. Once again, do not miss this show. The info is on the bottom.

Ramming Speed bring full tilt metal to New London On June 7
Thursday, June 7, 2012
Location:
El 'n' Gee
86 Golden St
New London, CT
$10.00 / All Ages
w/ Phobia, Strong Intention, DxCx, InTheShit, Spitting Black, Throne Hunter, American't
Since 2005, Boston's Ramming Speed, have been bringing their crossover influenced, crust-tinged thrash to the masses, releasing one full length (2009's "Brainwreck"), a couple of EPs and a split with fellow brothers in arms, ANS, on the Tankcrimes label. A notorious horde of road dogs, the band has played almost anywhere and everywhere, not only in the United States, but in Europe also, where their set at the vaunted Obscene/Extreme Festival drew them raves from the European press. Since the band, with a line-up that features new members Blake Chuffskin on guitar and Ben Bagonen on bass, along with mainstays Peter Gallagher on vocals, Kallen Bliss on guitar and Jonah Livingston on drums, will be playing direct support to Phobia this Thursday at the El N Gee in New London, we decided to send Livingston a bunch of questions on a varying bunch of topics and below are his answers. Enjoy. And don't forget to check out the show.

Birds In Row: Hardcore With A French Flavor
Birds In Row are an awesome hardcore band from Laval, France who while on their first United States tour with the equally impressive Loma Prieta, will make a stop at the The Space in Hamden on Sunday. The band, which consists of xBartx (guitar/vocals), Ditow (bass/vocals) and Timmy (drums), have recently signed to Deathwish Inc. and will be releasing a new album through them sometime this year. Right now, Vitriol Records, has reissued two of the band's previous releases, the "Rise Of The Phoenix" 7" and the "Cottbus" LP as one full length record called "Collected", which is definitely worth picking up if you are a fan of quality music and quality packaging. (Vitriol always does something extra with their physical releases, bless them.) So, we sent the band some questions and here are their answers. True to their hardcore ideals, they answered these questions collectively. So, enjoy and don't miss the show this Sunday. (Info on that will follow below.)
