Brian Grochowski is a real renaissance man. One could say he has his finger in a lot of pies. I had the opportunity to ask Brian some questions about all the bands he is in, as well as some of the details of his "1 album a month for the rest of 2013" project.

OK! So after a week of labor, the new CTIndie.com Summer Mix is finally complete. To say the submission level was overwhelming is an understatement. We simply cannot BELIEVE how many submissions we received for this mix. Last year, we received submissions from 35 CT bands to make D60, the 2012 Summer Mix (named for being 2 hours long, or "double" 60 minutes). This year we received a staggering number of tracks from 90 bands. So, after compiling just over 5 hours of music, we present to you q-90: the quadruple CD, 90 track CTIndie.com Summer Mix 2013!

It's that time of year again! Daffodil Fest in Meriden has been going strong for 34 years straight, you can help them celebrate a 35th year with a staggering total of amazing locals!

Last year's CTIndie.com Summer Mix Tape D60 was so successful, we put the link in the top right corner of our page and there it has remained into the new year, still acquiring hits steadily. So we are gonna do it again, this year. Send us your music to ctindiemusic@gmail.com or just drop box it to us using the link on the right side of the screen.

Submission Guidelines:

You may submit as many tracks as you like. We will select our favorite and put them on the tape. We may choose one or two songs depending on a multitude of factors (total running time of tape, how much we really like the songs, etc...). There are NO genre restrictions, and I would like to add that we generally prefer stuff that's harder to categorize.

THE DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS IS JUNE 1ST! So get us your tracks by then.

These sequences will then be constructed for release in the first week of June on our SUMMER MIX TAPE SOUNDCLOUD (yes, the old tapes will be taken down). Also, like last year, we here at CTIndie.com will make (at our own personal expense) CD's and/or Tapes to be passed out at shows all summer for FREE. I know last year we proliferated 100 sets of the double CD and nearly 50 double tape sets. We encourage, nay, IMPLORE all of you featured on the tape or not, to make and distribute as many copies of these mixes as possible. Get the word out about your favorite bands. Tell everyone how impressively abundant CT music really is!
And get yourself psyched up for a long awesome summer of dope ass shows.

Tomb and Thirst hails from New Haven and has been taking the Elm City on a ride through the world of Metal, doom, sludge, and grindcore. Nightbitch Commands You To Celebrate The Release Of Their New EP

Well, our favorite sleaze hounds, Nightbitch are about to release another vinyl EP, and guess what, they'll be celebrating this event with a show at Cherry Street Station in Wallingford this Saturday. The "Chainmaker" EP features two new 'Bitch jams, "Disrober" and the title track, as well as a cover of Deep Purple's "Into The Fire". These along with the "Peculiar Worship" cassingle which just came out a little while ago and feature the first recordings with drummer Chris Taylor Beaudette's killer pipes. It should get you all hot and bothered for a full length which is surely soon to come. (See what I did there?) So we decided we would send some questions to guitarist Ryan Adams and here are his answers, probably written in between viewings of Jess Franco flicks. Below we touch on the new release, the vinyl release show and the potentially controversial "yacht rock" project that has been mentioned in other circumstances. Enjoy. (And remember Nightbitch also features Mark Eles on bass. Don't want to leave him out.)

Big week for videos! Upping the ante here is Daphne Lee Martin's lead single from "Moxie" called "Belly". This song is smooth and dope as hell and the video is the definition of the word "sultry". This video is directed by the amazing and unstoppable Jimi Patterson

Nightbitch Return To Scotty's To Spread The Gospel Of Sleaze

Our favorite group of sleazy, occult metal playing miscreants return to action this Saturday with a new release in tow. Yes, Nightbitch will be playing their home away from home, Scotty O'Boyles Cafe, in Meriden to celebrate the release of their new cassingle release, "Peculiar Worship", which features two new Nightbitch songs and is being put out by one of our favorite local progenitors of undeground music, No Visible Scars. As always, the festivities start around 9pm, where DJs will be spinning all the classic metal cuts to get you all hot and bothered for when Nightbitch takes the stage around 11pm. This is sure to be some good "adult" fun. So come on down and get yer sleaze on!

Berfest has been going strong now for 9 years. What once started as a small Boston festival has grown over the years into a 3 day Tri-State fiasco. Check these details below:

Nutmeg State of Mind: In Honor of Newtown

In response to the Newtown, Conn shooting, a number of Connecticut artists have donated songs for a compilation Organized, curated, and published by Terry Carr and Peter Kelly. All proceeds go towards Mental Health America. Check out the comp, it has some really great tracks and is certainly going towards a good cause.
